The Sligo Youthreach centre

Youthreach Sligo is located on the East side of Sligo town, in the Cleveragh area, and has been running since 1989. It occupies a purpose built building comprising of a Classroom, an Art room, a Computer room, a Video/Music room, a fully equipped Gym, a Kitchen, a Workshop for Woodwork and Metalwork, two offices, a Counseling room, a Laundry and a Shower room. Co. Sligo VEC have invested heavily in this building, making it a very comfortable one to work and learn in.

The Centre is extremely well equipped in all areas and is constantly monitored to ensure that our Learners have all the advantages of the best modern technology in order to prepare them for the future. We are particularly proud of our computer room where our young people can not only follow the various course in computers, but also have the opportunity to carry out research through the Internet for other projects. Computers are also used in some of our classrooms so that I.T. can be utilised to its fullest potential. Our other work areas are equipped to the same very high standard. The kitchen is fully fitted out with stainless steel units and equipment of industrial standard. Art & Craft and Woodwork areas also have the best equipment available. Television, video and cameras are available for use by all classes as required.

We publish a monthly Newsletter, which tells of upcoming events in the Centre, and is posted home for all Learners and Parents, to keep up to date on what’s happening.

The catchment area for Youthreach Sligo includes: all of Co. Sligo with Learners currently travelling from Tubbercurry, Ballymote, Maugherow, parts of North Leitrim, as well as Sligo Town. The centre caters for 40 Learners.
